PDFs can come in massive file sizes, so it is important to have a way to shrink the size. The larger it is, the harder it is to open on a phone or older computer. This free program can help you with that.

User interface and features

Free PDF Compressor (FPC) has a dated design but is easy to use. Once you open the program, you may choose which file you want to compress. After that, you can select which algorithm you want to be applied: Flate or RunLength.

You can either use the default, maximum, or fastest compression level. These are supposed to guide the way the app does it works.

Bugs and limitations

The application does not work online or provide any other features besides compression, falling behind PDFelement. The different settings do not provide any marginal change in the result. Users often end up with a file the same PDF file size as before they ran the Compressor.

Best compressor alternatives

PDF Compressor is another free to use software that gives similar features as FPC. It is more effective at descaling the size of the files. Also, it has better design elements than FPC.

PDFelement is a pay to use application; however, it does everything you would need to do to a PDF. It allows easy editing of the documents. Also, you can convert all document formats.

Hipdf has an online compressing option as well as a desktop version. It has a trial period before purchase must be made. Hipdf excels at giving you the ability to edit the document as much as you need.

Low functionality

Although it is free and easy to use, FPC has very little going for it. Because it does not work as it should most of the time, there is no point in downloading it. The other options are much better in providing useful features for editing and compressing data.
